Our Story

Bull Oak Well Angus is a family run business by the Nickolls family-Heath and Amanda together with their 3 sons, Cooper, Harry and Archie.

Everyone in the family plays an integral part in the running of the Stud today and this involvement will only continue to grow as the boys get older.

Heath established the Bull Oak Well herd in 1997 with the purchase of females from Roseleigh Angus. Additional females were purchased over the next few years from Millah Murrah, Ardrossan and Naroola Angus.

Today we have grown the stud to 240 stud registered dams and are looking to increase this number. We believe in our genetics and breeding which in turn has resulted in us keeping more heifers each year to get that natural increase. We have also restarted our ET program in 2020 to fast track some of the new genetics into our herd. We have selected some of our ever reliable dams as donor dams and have flushed them to new genetics.

In 2012 we held our first bull sale at The Basin Sale Complex, Willalooka, selling 33 bulls. We have slowly increased the number of bulls on offer at our annual sale while at the same time making sure to keep the same quality in the bulls that our clients have become accustom to.

We celebrated our 10th bull sale in 2021 and what a way to celecbrate! We recorded the highest number of registered bidders, sold the most bulls we've ever offered (52 bulls), recorded our highest top price ever ($19,000) and had our biggest sale average of $11,480!

In 2024 we will hold our first ever 'On-Property' bull sale at The Basin Sale Complex, Willalooka. We are so excited to own this property and complex and hope our clients can see that this means we are in it for the long haul and are committed to providing quality Angus bulls to cattle farmers throughout Australia.

Like any business, we haven't got where we are today without a lot of hard work, patience and from some amazing support. We work with some incredible businesses to help us get our Angus bulls to our clients and we can't thank them enough!

In October 2022, we were fortunate enough to feature in the SA Farmer magazine. Click on the link below to find out more about our story!
